If cars had spirit animals, the Porsche GT3 RS would definitely be an apex predator—a cheetah, maybe, with a caffeine addiction. Born from Porsche’s unrelenting desire to make a fast car even faster, the GT3 RS is what happens when engineers ask, “But what if…we added more wings?” Spoiler alert: they did. And it worked.

Originally derived from Porsche’s race car heritage, the GT3 RS started as a track monster with a license plate. Porsche thought, “Why keep all the fun on the track when you can scare pedestrians and impress your neighbors at the same time?” The RS stands for RennSport, which is German for “racing sport,” but it might as well stand for Ridiculously Speedy. With a naturally aspirated 4.0-liter flat-six engine, it delivers a mind-bending 520 horsepower—basically the automotive equivalent of having an espresso shot every second you’re behind the wheel.

From blistering Nürburgring lap times to sending passengers searching for their misplaced stomachs, the GT3 RS excels at one thing: performance. It’s so fast that even its spoiler looks like it’s bracing itself for impact. But don’t let the performance figures fool you—it’s a Porsche, so it’s also refined. Well, as refined as a feral beast in a tuxedo can be.
